Frequently Asked Questions
1. What happens in a counselling/psychotherapy session?
Each week we meet for 50 minutes at a fixed time which we will agree on together. If you have come to work on a specific situation, then our focus may be very much on this particular issue in your life, but I often find that whatever is uppermost in your mind is the best focus for our work on that particular day. Anything and everything that you want to talk about is relevant and useful. Generally we will look together at your thoughts and feelings to see if they can help us understand more clearly the way forward for you. I work in a psychodynamic way which means that I am trained to be able to notice and understand how unconscious beliefs and patterns may be getting in the way of your ability to get the most from your life and in particular your relationships with others.
2. How much will sessions cost?
I charge £50 for a session in St Albans and £60 in London.
3. What happens if I am not able to attend a session?
All missed sessions need to be paid for; this allows me to keep your weekly slot available for you.
